May Historic Preservation Month

May Historic Preservation Month

In celebration of National Preservation Month, held in the month of May, we invite you for a compelling exploration of how protecting our past fuels the economic vitality of our future. At Stuart Main Street, our mission is to ensure Downtown Stuart remains a vibrant heart for our community, and preservation is at the core of that sustainable growth.

This signature event features:

  • Keynote Presentation: Florida’s State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO) We are honored to welcome the SHPO to discuss the tangible “profit” in preservation. This presentation will cover the essential financial resources, tax credits, and grant opportunities available to historic property owners, demonstrating how maintaining heritage is a smart investment for both individuals and the city.

  • Preservation Experts Panel Gain a deeper understanding of our local landscape through a moderated discussion featuring a panel of local preservation experts. They will share their perspectives on the unique challenges and successes of protecting Stuart’s character while fostering a modern, thriving business district.

  • Author Book Signing Meet local author Blake Fontenay for a special signing of his latest work, which captures the stories and history that continue to define the spirit of our community.

Whether you are a property owner, a history enthusiast, or a local advocate, join us to learn why preservation is a strategic investment in the future of Downtown Stuart.
