The Main Street Approach starts with a vision….a community vision…one that is unique to us…to Stuart.

From this vision we work together to identify strategies that are transformative. Our plan is to align the activities of each of our committees so that our focus is directed and our strengths are optimized in order to bring about revitalization to enhance the quality of life in our downtown with an emphasis on community engagement and empowerment.

1.) Economic Vitality Committee-

The focus is on making the most of Stuart’s unique qualities to support the business
district as well as the growing interest in residential living in the downtown footprint. This
group often works in conjunction with the Design Committee.

2.) Design Committee-

The focus is on the public space to include street appeal, pedestrian friendly walkways,
visual aesthetics, inclusion of public art, adaptive reuse of historic buildings, and
involvement in projects such as outdoor dining, the expansion of the downtown to
include Colorado Avenue, and the expansion of the Riverwalk.

3.) Promotion Committee-

This committee is unique in that it is comprised of a partnership between two
organizations: Stuart Main Street and The Downtown Business Association which we
are very proud of. The focus is to promote the Organization and to promote our
Downtown thru marketing (Shop Local Campaign), thru Downtown Events/Programs that
are Year Round, and thru partnering with other groups to enhance the Downtown
experience. Special sub-committees exist to include the Dancin’ in the Street
Committee, the Hobgoblin on Main Street Committee and the Christmas on Main Street
Committee.

4.) Organization Committee-

The focus of this group is multi-dimensional and the structure includes various sub-committees with very specific functions. The key responsibilities of the committees include: fostering community engagement, membership growth and retention, and volunteerism. In addition, all aspects of administration and finance for Stuart Main Street are managed here . There are a number of Sub-Committees under Organization to include :

  • Digital Communications
  • Fundraising for the Organization
  • Emerging Issues
  • Administration
  • Finance
